Programmes

OTI offers Theological programs in the Graduate, Undergraduate and Diploma Level. All the programmes are residential. The programs at OTI run with the semester system. Each semester run for 16 weeks.

ACCREDITATION

OTI offers M.Div, B.Th and Dip.Th programmes; all of them are accredited by Asia Theological Association (ATA).

MASTER OF DIVINITY

Master of Divinity program is a comprehensive graduate theological program that is designed to prepare students for full-time service in the church of Jesus Christ. The curriculum is designed to instruct students in the study of theology in its widest sense, so that they may grow in the knowledge of God, discover and develop their God-given gifts and become persons with passion and desire to evangelize through clear and winsome biblical exposition, outreach, and mission service.

SCOPE

The program gives an enhanced preparation to students who are considering higher studies and a teaching career.

The program provides the church with pastors and other leaders who have highly developed skills in specific areas of ministry, theology, spirituality and the Bible.

The program prepares students to take up ministerial positions of pastor, church youth worker, social worker in a church related agency, teacher in elementary mission schools, church music director, organist, library assistant, Bible translator, field missionary and much more.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The Entrance requirement into the three year Master of Divinity degree programme is successful completion of a University undergraduate degree [Bachelor degree in Arts, Science, and Commerce] or equivalent. Those who have appeared for the Final BA/BSc/BCom degree examination and are awaiting their results will be admitted provisionally until the end of the first semester. Those who cannot produce their pass certificate will not be admitted.

An ATA-accredited Bachelor of Theology [B.Th] degree is an equivalent to a University undergraduate degree. However, advanced credit up to 10 courses towards the Master of Divinity degree can be granted only to those who have secured a B grade average or above in their B.Th. degree programme.

EQUIVALENCY

Applicants who have successfully completed an un-recognized B.Th degree programme will need to appear and successfully pass a qualifying examinations consisting of three papers set at the Final year B.Th degree in Biblical Studies, Theology and Christian Ministry. However, no applicant with an unrecognized theological degree will be given any advanced credit towards the M.Div degree.

Mature candidates who do not meet the required entrance qualification, but are at least 25 years of age, will be admitted into the programme on the basis of a Qualifying exam set at the Bachelor degree level [three courses].

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 103 hours for the M.Div degree.

A student who opts for specialization should complete a minimum of 12 credit hours in the chosen track for them to be awarded the specialized degree.

The student should have a minimum pass (40%) in all courses and an aggregate percentage of 50%.

The student is required to complete approved unit of field Internship.

The student should be recommended by the Ministry Department with regard to his involvement in practical ministry.

The student should be recommended by the Faculty with regard to his character, conduct and Christian Life.

The student should pass the Exit Interview that demonstrates the formation of the student in the areas of exegesis of Christian texts, the ability to think theologically, cultivation of spiritual disciplines, and preparedness for ministry.

BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY

The Bachelor of Theology program is a basic three-year program for those planning to invest their lives in church or mission vocations which require ordination. The program offers a broad biblical, theological, and practical foundation for such ministries involving theology, church history, biblical studies, apologetics and interdisciplinary elective course.

SCOPE

The program gives sufficient preparation to students who are considering higher studies in theology.

The program provides an ideal grounding on the way to active Christian ministry for students who aspire to take up ministerial positions of pastor, church youth worker, social worker in a church-related agency, teacher in elementary or secondary mission schools, worship leader, field missionary and much more.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The entrance requirement into the three year Bachelor of Theology degree programme is successful completion of 12 years of schooling or equivalent. Those who have appeared for the HSC/+2 and are awaiting their results will be admitted provisionally until the end of the first semester. Those who cannot produce their pass certificate will not be admitted.

EQUIVALENCY

The ATA-accredited two-year Diploma in Theology is an equivalent of the HSC/+2. Applicants who have completed successfully a two-year programme that has an entrance requirement of successful completion of 10 years of schooling [SSC], but is not ATA-accredited, must appear for and successfully pass a qualifying examination consisting of three papers set at the Final year Dip Th in Biblical Studies, Theology and Christian Ministry. However, such applicants will not be granted any advanced credit toward the B.Th degree

Mature candidates who do not meet the required entrance qualification, but are at least 25 years of age, will be admitted into the programme on the basis of a qualifying exam set at the 12th standard level [three courses].

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 121 hours for the B.Th. degree.

The student should have a minimum pass (40%) in all courses and an aggregate percentage of 50%.

The student is required to complete one approved unit of field internship.

The student should be recommended by the Ministry Department with regard to his involvement in practical ministry.

The student should be recommended by the Faculty with regard to his character, conduct and Christian life.

The student should pass the Exit Interview that demonstrates the formation of the student in the areas of preparedness for Christian ministry, cultivation of spiritual disciplines and competence in Mission, Biblical Studies, Religion, Systematic Theology and Church History.

DIPLOMA IN THEOLOGY

Diploma in Theology program is designed to introduce students in a systematic manner to the study of theology and scripture as a means of preparing them for well-informed participation in the life of the church and for ministry among the un-reached.

SCOPE

The program gives sufficient preparation to students who are considering higher studies in theology.

The program provides an ideal grounding on the way to active Christian ministry for students who aspire to take up ministerial positions of pastor, church youth worker, social worker in a church-related agency, teacher in elementary mission schools, worship leader, field missionary and much more.

EQUIVALENCY

The entrance requirement into the two year Diploma in Theology programme is successful completion of 10 years of schooling or equivalent. Those who have appeared for the SSC/SSLC and are awaiting their results will be admitted provisionally until the end of the first semester.

Mature candidates who do not meet the required entrance qualification, but are at least 22 years of age, will be admitted into the programme on the basis of a qualifying exam set at the 10th standard level [three courses].

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 80 hours for the Dip. Th. Degree.

The student should have a minimum pass (40%) in all courses and an aggregate percentage of (50%).

The student should be recommended by the Ministry Department with regard to his involvement in practical ministry.

The student should be recommended by the Faculty with regard to his character, conduct and Christian life.

The student should pass the Exit Interview that evaluates completion of the academic requirements, personal as well as pastoral readiness and display of leadership skills.
